#SooI500 Pole Winner, Troy DeWald Ends A Wonderful Day By Winning The Woody’s Challenge

49th Annual International 500 Snowmobile Race Pole Winner, Troy DeWald continued a wonderful day for his Cadarette Collision Racing #21 team by winning the Woody’s Challenge 25-Lap Feature. The 47-year-old from AuGres, Michigan, a former two-time #SooI500 winner, pocketed a total of $2,000 on the day for the #SooI500 Pole Award ($1,000) and Woody’s Victory ($1,000). Michael Haynes (Beard Motorsports Snowmobile Division) edged Ross Erdman (Bouchard Racing Team) for second as Aaron Christensen (Bunke Racing) and Zach Herfindahl (Christian Brothers Racing) cpompleted the top five.

Earlier in the day in #SooI500 Qualifying, DeWald started the day off by knowing he will lead the field to the Green Flag on Saturday morning. The two-time #SooI500 Winner won the #SooI500 Pole Award worth $1,000. The rider of the Cadarette Collision Racing #21 went around the one-mile ice oval at a 39.813 = 90.423mph. Kyle Eckert (Eckert Racing Team) was second quick as Michael Haynes (Beard Motorsports), Bobby Menne (DL Racing) and Ryan Faust (Bunke Racing) completed the top five.

Prior to the Woody’s Challenge, the top 16 were locked into the 25-Lap Feature through Woody’s Qualifying. Kyle Eckert laid down the fastest lap overall of the week in his Eckert Racing Team #88 to claim the pole for the Feature. The Gaylord, Michigan rider, the 2014 Woody’s Challenge winner, blistered the one-mile ice oval at an impressive 39.106 = 92.057mph.  DeWald was second quick, just missing the “Hat Trick” for the day as Haynes, Christensen and Erdman completed the top five.
