The Friday before the race (and the contest), hopeful queens-to-be meet and dine one-on-one with pageant judges. Judges ask each contestant a little bit about herself, her hobbies and interests, future plans, and how she plans to promote the I-500 Snowmobile Race if/when she is selected as Queen.
On the day of the pageant, the Friday before the race, contestants are introduced to the audience in the form of a fashion show. Each contestant will wear either a costume or uniform that reflects her personality, hobbies, career aspirations, or sports affiliations. There is also an onstage interview for all the ladies to share their thoughts and win the hearts of the crowd.
In the final event, contestants model a floor-length evening gown; complete with winter accents (faux fur, Ugg-like boots, etc) that pair perfectly with the theme of the race.
